Beyond the Bar Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is a collaborative effort between New Rock Legal Society, Newton County Bar Association, Rockdale County Bar Association and Walton County Bar Association for the benefit of graduating high school seniors that will further their education in an accredited college or technical school.

Eligible candidates are graduating high school seniors that reside and attend a high school in either, Newton, Rockdale or Walton County. Candidates will submit a completed application, essay and provide a high school transcript to Beyond the Bar Scholarship Foundation by 4:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 2026.

The 2026 Law Day theme is “The Rule of Law and the American Dream.” The rule of law – the idea that no person is above the law – is what ensures the rights of the people to live their lives as freely as possible and to pursue their dreams.

On a separate sheet of paper please write an essay (250 – 500 words) concerning the Rule of Law and the American Dream. Topics of discussion may include, but are not limited to: How does the American Dream reconcile, or factor, into the Rule of Law? Conversely, how does the Rule of Law drive the American Dream? How do we, either individually or as a society, advance the Rule of Law to promote the American Dream? Finally, what challenges do you see, or might expect, to encounter to promote the Rule of Law?
